Sire

De Niro

De Niro (1993 by Donnerhall) is a HANN stallion approved SF, HANN, MECKL, SA, RHEIN, KWPN, HOLST and OLDGB.

His sire, Donnerhall appears in the pedigree of almost every top-level dressage horse competing today. Donnerhall won numerous international Grand Prix, including team golds at the 1994 & 1998 World Equestrian Games and the 1997 European Championships, and two individual bronze medals (1994 & 1997). Donnerhall ranked inside the top 10 of the WBFSH Sire Rankings for seven consecutive seasons (2008-2014). Donnerhall's offspring include Damon Hill, Donnerschlag, Donnersong, Don Schufro, Don Principe and Donnperignon.

His dam, Alicante, is also the dam of De Niro’s full brother Dimension, licensed stallion who sired the Grand Prix horses Dall-Mayer and Deveraux B. Akzent II.

In 1997, De Niro was vice-champion of the stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf. In 2002, he was victorious in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special in Saumur and Berlin. In 2007, De Niro's son Deveraux became World Champion of the 6-year-old dressage horses in Verden. In 2012, De Niro was ranked first in the ranking of the World Breeding Federation for Sports Horses. In 2018, the overall amount of prize value of De Niro's descendants reached 3,000,000 Euros.

De Niro counts over 2380 offspring registered on Horsetelex.

His most successful son is Desperados FRH, ridden by Kristina Bröring-Sprehe. In 2013, Desperados and D'Agostino led the German dressage team to the gold medal at the European Championships in Herning. Desperados also won team gold at the 2016 Olympics, team silver at London 2012, and team gold and double individual silver at the 2015 European Championships.

De Niro also sired the Oldenburg licensing champion Don Deluxe, later sold to Andreas Helgstrand for €910,000, plus the Reserve Champion and three-time State Champion, Depardieu, now ridden by Emma Hindle, the winner of the Hanoverian licensing and stallion performance test, Dancier, who sold to the State Stud in Celle for €220,000.
